ICC unveils iconic white coat for Champions Trophy winners

The ICC Men's Champions Trophy is set to make its much-awaited return next month, marking the tournament's first edition since 2017. Cricket fans around the world are gearing up for the action, which promises intense competition and high stakes. Scheduled to run from February 19 to March 9, the tournament will feature 15 matches across 19 days.  

In a promotional video released by the International Cricket Council (ICC), legendary cricketer Wasim Akram introduced the tournament's iconic prize: a specially designed white coat for the winning team. The jacket, with "Champions Trophy 2025 Pakistan" elegantly embroidered in golden thread on the front pocket, symbolizes cricketing excellence and relentless determination.  

“The ICC Men's Champions Trophy represents the best of the best,” Akram remarked in the video. “Winning the jacket signifies putting everything on the line for glory. This tournament will see the strongest team emerge victorious, as every game will be a high-pressure battle with no room for rest,” he further remarked.   

The promotional video, titled "All On The Line," beautifully captures the journey of champions, showcasing the meticulous creation of the white jacket alongside captivating visuals of teams preparing for the competition. Akram emphasizes the importance of the tournament and its high-stakes nature, where every match counts and only the most resilient teams succeed.  

The eight competing teams will be divided into two groups, each playing three group-stage matches. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, leading to an ultimate clash for the trophy and the legendary white coat.  

"The coat represents a champion’s relentless pursuit of excellence and serves as a badge of honor worn by those who achieve cricketing greatness," Wasim Akram stated in the video.  

Adding to the excitement, the Champions Trophy will kick off with a match between Pakistan and New Zealand at Karachi’s National Stadium. Cricket fans worldwide eagerly await the tournament, which not only celebrates the spirit of the game but also unites generations of players and fans through its legacy of greatness.
