Kaur attempted to return to the crease after missing a wide delivery from Nida Dar, but in the process, she appeared to injure her neck
India’s Women’s T20 World Cup campaign took a positive turn with a victory against Pakistan, but concerns are growing over captain Harmanpreet Kaur's injury.
During the match in Dubai, Kaur was forced to leave the field after injuring her neck in the final overs of the run-chase.
After suffering a defeat to New Zealand in their opening match, India bounced back with a strong performance against Pakistan. The team’s bowlers played exceptionally well, limiting Pakistan to just 105 runs in their innings. As the Indian team approached their target, Kaur was leading the charge with confidence.
However, in the 19th over, disaster struck. Kaur attempted to return to the crease after missing a wide delivery from Nida Dar, but in the process, she appeared to injure her neck. The physio quickly came onto the field to assess her condition. Despite India needing only two runs for victory, Kaur left the field in discomfort.
India eventually secured the win with seven balls to spare, finishing the match at six wickets. Sajana Sajeevan made a quick impact by hitting a boundary on the only ball she faced.
With Kaur's injury, the Indian team will be anxious as they look ahead in the tournament, hoping for her quick recovery.
