Pakistan's hopes of reaching the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final were shattered as they endured a historic whitewash against Bangladesh, losing the two-match Test series 2-0 in Rawalpindi.

This marks the first-ever series defeat for Pakistan against the Bengal Tigers, adding to the mounting pressure on the national team.

Bangladesh's dominance was evident throughout the series, starting with a decisive victory in the first Test match in Rawalpindi. The visitors carried their momentum into the second Test, where they secured a six-wicket win by successfully chasing down Pakistan's target of 185 runs.

The series loss is seen as a major embarrassment for Pakistan, raising serious questions about their form and strategy as they fall further behind in the WTC standings.

As per the latest ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings, India currently holds the top spot with 74 points and a win percentage of 68.52, having played 9 matches with 6 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. Australia follows closely in second place with 90 points and a win percentage of 62.50 from 12 matches, including 8 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw.

New Zealand occupies the third position with 36 points and a 50.00 win percentage after 6 matches, winning 3 and losing 3. Bangladesh and England are fourth and fifth respectively, with Bangladesh having 33 points and a 45.83 win percentage, while England has 81 points and a 45.00 win percentage after playing 15 matches. South Africa is in sixth place with 28 points and a 38.89 win percentage from 6 matches.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan are placed seventh and eighth, with Sri Lanka having 24 points and a 33.33 win percentage, and Pakistan with 16 points and a 19.05 win percentage after 7 matches. West Indies rounds out the standings at ninth place with 20 points and an 18.52 win percentage from 9 matches, including 1 win and 6 losses.

Pakistan will take a brief break as the players will gear up for the upcoming Champions ODI Cup 2024. Following this, Pakistan is set to face England in a three-match Test series, scheduled from October 7th to 24th, 2024.
