Pakistan cricketers, Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman have spoken about their readiness to adapt to any role assigned to them and the importance of aligning the team’s approach with modern cricket.

Speaking during a media session, Iftikhar spoke about his experience in domestic cricket, where he has played at every batting position. He emphasized that he is comfortable fitting into any combination required by the team management.

"I have played at every batting position in domestic cricket, including at numbers 4 and 5. In the Pakistan team, you don't have a choice; you play wherever you fit into the combination. I have confidence in my abilities to perform well for Pakistan at any position and in any condition. I've discussed this with management, and they believe it is more appropriate for me to bat after 12 overs," Iftikhar said.

"My batting style is beneficial to the team in lesser overs. As a batter, I prefer to receive four or five balls before attacking. Whether playing early or late, I have to consider both the match situation and conditions," he further added.

Similarly, Fakhar also expressed his readiness for any position in the batting lineup.

"Head coach Azhar Mahmood has clarified the roles of batters and bowlers in the team. As a professional, I am prepared to bat at any position. Given the amount of cricket we have played, the batting position doesn't make much difference. I discuss plans with the management and have been informed that I will bat at the fourth position," Fakhar said.

"I aim to perform in every match and contribute to the team's victories, but T20 cricket requires taking risks, and luck plays a part. My goal is to score runs quickly. My strike rate can improve further, and I'm working on that. It's true that our middle order performance hasn't been strong, and the team is trying to adjust its mindset to align with modern cricket," he further added.

It is worth noting that Pakistan will play three T20Is in Ireland and four in England before heading to the United States for the T20 World Cup.

The 18-player squad for the series against Ireland and England will be trimmed to 15 players for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, which starts on June 1 after the first T20I against England on May 22.
