Imad Wasim has clarified that discussions about a potential return to the national team were not held with Pakistan T20I captain Shaheen Afridi during their participation in the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20).

Nevertheless, while speaking to Cricket Pakistan in an exclusive interview, the all-rounder offered some advice to his younger counterpart, emphasizing that Shaheen should follow his instincts and prioritize the well-being of Pakistan.

"Shaheen is like my younger brother. I would advise him to approach everything with sincerity, prioritizing what is in the best interest of Pakistan. He has people around him, who can give him good suggestions," Imad said.

Imad also shared his perspective on the T20I series against New Zealand, where Pakistan faced a 4-1 defeat. He commented on Babar Azam's successful adaptation to the one-down position, scoring three consecutive fifties. Additionally, he suggested that Mohammad Rizwan should be prepared to adapt if asked to bat lower in the order.

"Babar has adapted very well after batting at one down position. He scored three consecutive fifties. Similarly, Rizwan should adapt as well if he is asked to bat down the order," Imad said.

"Shaheen did a good thing that he checked different opening combinations. It would be better for him if he continues to check different combinations before the World Cup. If the new combinations don’t work, then they can go back to Babar and Rizwan as the opening pair," he concluded.

Imad announced his retirement from international cricket last year, bringing an end to a career that spanned eight years. The 34-year-old Imad made his international debut in May 2015 against Zimbabwe and went on to represent Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is.
