Imad Wasim's exceptional all-round performance proved to be the key factor in the thrilling opening match of The Hundred Men's competition 2023, leading Trent Rockets to a nail-biting victory against the Southern Braves.

In the first innings, after being asked to bat first, Rockets faced early setbacks, losing five wickets with just 54 runs on the board.

However, Imad stepped up at the crucial number seven spot. He played a vital innings, scoring 26 runs from 25 deliveries at a strike rate of 104, which included three boundaries.

His contribution allowed Rockets to recover and set a competitive total of 133 for the loss of eight wickets.

When the Southern Braves came to chase, they too encountered difficulties in the beginning, losing their formidable batters early in the innings.

The 34-year-old's impressive all-round skills were on display once again as he made a significant impact with the ball as well.

He picked up two crucial wickets of Finn Allen (28), and skipper James Vince (3). His bowling prowess helped stifle the Braves' chase and ultimately led to Rockets' victory with a slender margin of six runs.
