Imad Wasim's all-round effort goes in vain as Warriors edge Falcons in CPL 2024 thriller

Imad Wasim's all-round effort proved futile as the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons suffered another defeat in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

After being put in to bat, the Falcons managed to post a competitive total of 168/6 in their 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman anchored the innings with a composed 40 off 33 balls, laced with three boundaries and two towering sixes. 

Imad provided a late surge, smashing 40 off just 21 balls, including four fours and two sixes, lifting the Falcons to a challenging total. Guyana's Gudakesh Motie was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets in his four-over spell.

Chasing 169, the Warriors struggled early, losing wickets at regular intervals. The Falcons' bowlers, led by Imad Wasim's economical spell of 2/28, kept the pressure on. However, Mohammad Amir went wicketless and was unable to defend 16 runs in the final over of the match.

The Warriors' lower order, spearheaded by Romario Shepherd's blistering 32 off 16 balls and Dwaine Pretorius's quickfire 20 off 10, turned the tide. The duo's cameos ensured the Warriors scraped past the target finishing at 171/7.
