As Australia looks ahead to the rest of the series, Marsh remains ready to contribute both with the bat and ball when needed
Australia’s Mitchell Marsh is prepared to bowl as much as captain Pat Cummins requires in future matches after limited bowling in the second Test against India in Adelaide. Marsh, who was uncertain about his bowling fitness before the match, only bowled four overs in the game, which Australia won by 10 wickets.
The all-rounder expressed gratitude to the team management for allowing him time to recover between the first and second Test of the series. Despite not bowling much before the series, Marsh acknowledged the support from head coach Andrew McDonald and Cummins, who gave him the space to get ready for the game.
Marsh said, “I’ll try and be ready to bowl as much as Patty needs me. Our allrounders haven’t bowled a lot in Australia in recent years, but I’m really thankful for our medical staff and Patty who allowed me the time to recover. I trusted their plan.”
Marsh also reflected on his controversial dismissal in the second Test when he was caught behind off Ravichandran Ashwin's bowling. Umpire Richard Illingworth gave Marsh out after he began walking off the field, despite not being fully convinced by the appeal. Marsh admitted he initially thought he had hit the ball, but after seeing the replay, he realized he hadn’t. He jokingly added, “When I saw the replay in the dressing room, I had my hands on my head. A minute later, everyone was laughing at me.”
