Team India have suffered a major blow ahead of the fourth Test against England, as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and pacer Arshdeep Singh have been sidelined due to injuries.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two matches of the five-Test series after sustaining a left knee injury. The 22-year-old will return home for further medical treatment and evaluation.

Reddy had played in the second and third Tests at Edgbaston and Lord’s, contributing with both bat and ball.

Meanwhile, left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh suffered an injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets during a training session in Beckenham. He is likely to miss the fourth Test in Manchester, with the medical staff monitoring his condition.

In response to the injuries, the team has called up pacer Anshul Kamboj as a precaution. Kamboj recently impressed during India A’s tour of England and has now joined the senior squad.

India are currently trailing 2-1 in the five-match series. They lost the third Test at Lord’s by 22 runs, chasing a modest target of 193. Despite a fighting fifty from Ravindra Jadeja, the visitors were bowled out for 170. England captain Ben Stokes earned the Player of the Match award for his brilliant all-round display.

The fourth Test will begin on July 23 at Old Trafford in Manchester.
