India women delivered a clinical performance to defeat Bangladesh by 10 wickets and secure a spot in the final of the Women's Asia Cup 2024.

The semifinal encounter at Dambulla turned out to be heavily one-sided, with India first restricting Bangladesh to a modest total of 80/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav starred with the ball, each claiming three wickets for just 10 and 14 runs respectively. Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma also contributed with a wicket each to stifle the Bangladesh batting lineup.

In response, India's opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana displayed controlled batting to easily chase down the target in just 11 overs.

Mandhana remained unbeaten on 51 runs off 38 deliveries, embellished with 8 boundaries and a six, while Shafali supported with a cautious 26 not out. Their partnership ensured India's entry into the final for the ninth time in the tournament's history.

Bangladesh's innings saw captain Nigar Sultana top-scoring with 31 runs from 51 balls, but her efforts were largely unsupported as the rest of the team struggled to make an impact.

Despite the seemingly achievable target, India's disciplined bowling and dominant batting performance left Bangladesh little room to maneuver.

India will now await the winner of the second semifinal between Sri Lanka and Pakistan to determine their opponent in the final, scheduled for Sunday.
