Two of Australia's top white-ball players face a period on the sidelines due to injuries, casting uncertainty over their availability for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup in October in Bangladesh.

Spinner Sophie Molineux is the primary concern after sustaining an acute rib fracture from a blow to the chest while batting. This setback is expected to keep the 26-year-old out of action for up to eight weeks, jeopardizing her readiness for Australia's opening match against Sri Lanka on October 4.

Molineux, recently named Player of the Series in Australia's T20I series in Bangladesh, was set to play a pivotal role alongside a formidable spin bowling unit including Georgia Wareham, Ash Gardner, and Alana King at the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, teammate Grace Harris is contending with her own injury woes, having aggravated a calf issue, prompting her withdrawal from England's The Hundred competition.

A crucial figure in Australia's victorious T20 World Cup campaign in South Africa last year, Harris now faces a structured rehabilitation program to facilitate her return to fitness.

Cricket Australia confirmed these setbacks in a brief statement, highlighting the challenges faced by the team as they prepare for Group A encounters against India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka in the upcoming tournament.
