The 30-year-old smashed pacer Karim Janat for four sixes in the 19th over to take Pakistan past a tricky 148-run target, giving them three wins in as many games in the Group 2 of the Super 12 Stages
Renowned Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle and former cricketer VVS Laxman have praised Pakistan’s middle-order batsman Asif Ali, after the latter led the Men in Green to victory against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup on Friday in Dubai.
The 30-year-old smashed pacer Karim Janat for four sixes in the 19th over to take Pakistan past a tricky 148-run target, giving them three wins in as many games in the Group 2 of the Super 12 Stages.
Bhogle was impressed with Asif’s “insane hitting”, while Laxman said that the hard-hitter “again pulled the fat out of the fire”.
The Pakistan juggernaut rolls on. They faltered towards the end of both innings, but Asif Ali again pulled the fat out of the fire. Valiant Afghanistan gave it their all, it just wasn't enough. I had seen Asif Ali a few times before and thought he was a powerful batsman. But this level of hitting is insane.— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) October 29, 2021
Pakistan play Namibia in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday followed by their last match against Scotland in Sharjah on November 7.
The top two teams from each Group qualify for the semi-finals.
