Pakistan’s legendary former batsman Inzamamul Haq, in a Youtube video on Monday, compared Pakistan’s young bowling attack with the legendary former bowling unit of Australia comprising of fast-bowlers Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie along with leg-spinner Shane Warne.

The former chief selector claimed that the performance of leg-spinner Yasir Shah was a major positive for Pakistan going forward.

“Yasir Shah’s performance was very important. I had been saying for a long time that if Yasir doesn’t perform, Pakistan will not be upto the strength that it can be at. When Australia was at its peak they had bowlers such as McGrath, Lee, Gillespie and then their was Shane Warne. They did not give any breathing space for batsmen to score. They kept coming at the them one by one. Now as is the case with Pakistan, when the pace battery comes on they have to be backed by Yasir Shah, who I believe is a great bowler. If he is firing then it will make it really hard for the opposing batsmen to score. Yasir’s performance was a great sign for Pakistan going forward,” Inzamam said.

The 49-year-old congratulated Pakistan after their emphatic victory against Bangladesh in the first Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

“Many congratulations for Pakistan after winning the Test match [against Bangladesh]. They won it by a big margin. This is very good for cricket in Pakistan. There were a lot of positives that should be appreciated from this match. The way our batsmen played, they improved their strike rates significantly,” he said.

Inzamam revealed that he was worried about the form of struggling batsman Haris Sohail before the first Test.

“I was a little worried as far as Haris Sohail is concerned. I feel that he is a great batsman. If he is given confidence, he can become a big player. It was great to see him scoring and in-form,” he concluded.
