Former Pakistan cricketer Inzamamul Haq has highlighted a key improvement in Pakistan batsmen during the ongoing first Test between the Men in Green and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

While speaking in Youtube video, the former cricketer was happy to see the duo of opener Shan Masood and middle-order batsman Babar Azam score at a good pace.

“The thing Pakistan batsmen were missing for a long time was scoring with a healthy strike rate,” Inzamam said. “The strike rate of our batsmen is improving after every innings. Previously, our batsmen used to take around 250 balls to score a century. But today Shan and Babar scored their centuries in 160 and 134 balls respectively.”

“Babar is improving day by day. If you look at his last seven Test innings, he has scored four centuries and two fifties. Similarly, batsmen who missed out today are also getting better,” he added.

The 49-year-old also appreciated the Pakistan bowling attack for restricting Bangladesh to a modest first innings total.

“Pakistan bowlers need to be given credit for restricting Bangladesh to 233 on such a flat track,” he said. “At the same time, it would not be an easy task to dismiss them again on this pitch considering the conditions.”

“Still, Pakistan has a great opportunity to win this Test match,” he concluded.
