The incident occurred when the franchises were bidding for Sri Lanka allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga as Edmeades suddenly fell down from the stage leaving everyone around him concerned before being attended to by the medical team at the venue in Bengaluru.

Broadcaster Charu Sharma has now been identified as the replacement for Hugh for day one of the IPL auction.

Hugh is a British international fine art, and charity auctioneer. In a 35-year career as a Christie’s auctioneer, he conducted more than 2,500 auctions, selling over 310,000 lots for a sum in excess of £2.7 billion.
