SRH have added the 22-year-old all-rounder to their squad for ₹30 lakh
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have named a replacement for Smaran Ravichandran, who has been ruled out of the rest of the IPL 2025 season due to injury. Vidarbha all-rounder Harsh Dubey has been brought in as his replacement.
Earlier this season, SRH had already faced a setback when Australian spinner Adam Zampa had to withdraw from the tournament because of an injury. To fill that gap, the team had signed Smaran Ravichandran, a wicketkeeper-batter from Karnataka, on short notice. Unfortunately, Smaran also suffered an injury and had to leave the squad before making his mark.
Now, SRH have added Harsh Dubey to their squad for ₹30 lakh. The 22-year-old plays for Vidarbha in India’s domestic circuit and was part of the team that recently won the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy. So far, he has featured in 54 matches across formats for Vidarbha, taking 127 wickets and scoring 947 runs.
Despite being last season's runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad have struggled in IPL 2025. They are currently ninth in the points table with just six points, having won three matches so far. While it's no longer possible for them to reach 16 points, they still have a chance to reach 14 points and keep their hopes alive for a place in the playoffs, depending on net run rate and other teams’ results.
SRH are set to face Delhi Capitals (DC) today, May 5, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Their remaining fixtures include home games against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 10, an away game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 13, and their final group-stage match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 18 in Lucknow.
