The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, which constructed in just 106 days, is set to be dismantled over approximately six weeks, reported CricBuzz.
This process commenced on Wednesday, immediately following the conclusion of the India-USA game in the afternoon.
The stadium, located in Eisenhower Park, had transformed the park into a secure venue for the games and spectators. With the dismantling underway, the park will return to its natural state, allowing free public access.
The future of the cricket pitches remains undecided. According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the decision lies with the Nassau County authorities.
"If they want to keep them and handle the required maintenance, they can," said an ICC official.
Alternatively, if Nassau County opts out, the ICC will relocate the drop-in pitches—crafted in Florida with expertise from South Australia—to another location where they will be utilized. However, the outfield will stay in its current spot.
There were considerations for hosting several Major League Cricket (MLC) games at the stadium, but this idea did not garner much enthusiasm from the MLC authorities and their franchises.
