Gillespie and former captain Waqar Younis to discuss the squad and preparations for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh
Jason Gillespie, the head coach of the Pakistan red-ball team, has arrived in Islamabad from Australia and will be staying there to prepare for the Shaheens' upcoming matches against Bangladesh A.
According to a media report, a potential meeting between Gillespie and former captain Waqar Younis, who recently joined as adviser for cricket affairs to PCB chief, will take place to discuss the squad and preparations for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Gillespie will also oversee the preparations of the Pakistan Shaheens for their matches against Bangladesh A and will be present during their training camp.
Previously, Gillespie had coached the Pakistan Shaheens' red-ball team in Darwin. The two four-day match series between Shaheens and Bangladesh-A resulted in a draw 1-1.
The Bangladesh A team is expected to arrive in Islamabad on August 7.
The squad for the Pakistan Shaheens will be announced within the next one or two days.
Gillespie will play a crucial role in the selection discussions for the national team ahead of the Bangladesh series. The training camp for the Pakistan Test squad is set to commence on August 11, which Gillespie will supervise as head coach.
The Bangladesh Test squad is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on August 17, with the first Test match between the sides starting on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
