Gillespie and Nielsen will return to Pakistan before the Test series against England, starting on October 7 in Multan
Following the conclusion of the ongoing second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the foreign coaches of the Green Shirts are preparing to head to Australia.
Red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie and high-performance coach Tim Nielsen are scheduled to depart on Wednesday.
According to sources, Gillespie and Nielsen will return to Pakistan before the Test series against England, starting on October 7 in Multan.
Physio Cliff Deacon and strength and conditioning coach Dreks Simon will stay in Pakistan to conduct fitness tests for the national Test squad and other international players. These assessments aim to ensure that players are in peak condition for upcoming tournaments, including the upcoming Champions One-Day Cup.
The Champions ODI Cup is scheduled to take place in Faisalabad from September 12 to 29.
The ongoing Test series against Bangladesh, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25, marks Gillespie's first stint with Pakistan as red-ball head coach.
In the second Test, Pakistan was dismissed for 274 runs in their first innings. Despite early breakthroughs that reduced Bangladesh to 26-6, Litton Das's century helped Bangladesh recover to a total of 262 runs. At the close of Day 3, Pakistan was in a difficult position, scoring just nine runs and losing two key wickets.
The situation worsened on Day 4 as they lost four more players in the first session. Hasan Mahmud's five-wicket haul helped dismiss Pakistan for 172, setting Bangladesh a target of 185 runs. Bangladesh are currently chasing Pakistan's target as Day 5 of the match gets underway.
