Jason Roy makes PSL history with record-breaking innings

In a breathtaking batting display, Quetta Gladiators' opening batsman, Jason Roy, set a new record for the highest number of runs in a single match during the 25th fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Wednesday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. 

Roy's unbeaten 145 runs led his team to an impressive eight-wicket victory over Babar Azam-led Zalmi.

The 32-year-old scored a century off 44 deliveries, making him the second-fastest century scorer in Pakistan Super League history.

The record for the fastest PSL century is still held by Rilee Russouw of Multan Sultans, who achieved the feat in 43 deliveries against Quetta Gladiators in 2020.

The third-fastest century in PSL was scored by Harry Brooks of Lahore Qalandars, who hit a 48-ball century in February 2022 during a match against Islamabad United.

Roy's latest achievement has made him the first foreign cricketer to score two centuries in the PSL. He had previously scored 116 runs against Lahore Qalandars in Karachi last season.

The match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi was also notable for another reason. During the same match, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam also scored a century, making it the first time in PSL history that two centuries have been scored in a single match.

Overall, the match was a thrilling display of batting by both teams, with Roy's remarkable performance helping his side secure a convincing victory. His outstanding performance will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable tournament moments in PSL history.
