On the second day of the fifth Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah surpassed Bishan Singh Bedi's long-standing record for the most wickets by an Indian bowler in a Test series on Australian soil.

The Indian pacer claimed his 32nd wicket of the series, breaking Bedi's record of 31 wickets, which had stood for decades. Bumrah achieved this feat by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne, reaffirming his status as the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing series.

While Bumrah's remarkable performance was the highlight of the day, tensions flared on Day 1 when he was involved in a heated exchange with Australian player Sam Konstas. The incident quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention from cricket fans and analysts.

At the end of Day 2, India found themselves leading by 145 runs, with four wickets still in hand.
