Former Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami has been appointed as a mentor for the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the upcoming Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2024. Goswami expressed her excitement about joining such a prestigious franchise.

"It's an honour to join such a quality franchise. Knight Riders have done so well in India and around the world, and to join TKR Women at the WCPL is a pleasure. Thanks to KKR management for thinking about me as a mentor and I'm really looking forward to this tournament," Goswami said in a statement shared by Knight Riders.

Goswami, who retired in 2022 as India’s leading wicket-taker in women's internationals, is currently the bowling coach and mentor for Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). This marks her first role in an overseas T20 league.

The Knight Riders are led by former West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin and recently strengthened their squad by signing India’s Jemimah Rodrigues, Shikha Pandey, and Australia’s Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen.

Goswami shared how the conversation about her joining TKR began with Venky Mysore, CEO of the Knight Riders group. She felt honored by the warm welcome from both Mysore and Shah Rukh Khan during their meeting in Kolkata.

Mysore praised Goswami, calling her an “absolute legend of the game.” He believes her mentorship will help the team reach new heights and provide valuable learning opportunities for younger players.

The WCPL 2024 will take place from August 21 to 29, featuring three teams: TKR, defending champions Barbados Royals, and Guyana Amazon Warriors. All matches will be held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
