Jofra Archer records most expensive bowling spell in IPL history

England fast bowler Jofra Archer set an unwanted record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by conceding 76 runs in four overs, making it the most expensive bowling spell in the tournament’s history.  

Playing for Rajasthan Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, Archer surpassed the previous record of 73 runs conceded by India’s Mohit Sharma in 2024.  

The high-scoring match saw Sunrisers Hyderabad post a massive 286-6, with Ishan Kishan leading the charge with 106 off 47 balls, hitting 11 fours and six sixes.  

Archer’s tough outing began with his first over going for 23 runs, including a wide. He was then hit for six more fours and three sixes, finishing with figures of 0-76 in four overs.  

Chasing 287, Rajasthan Royals managed 242-6 in 20 overs, losing by 44 runs in their first match of IPL 2025.
