England's white-ball captain, Jos Buttler, has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming SA20 2025 season.

The star player, who has been a pivotal figure for the Royals in the tournament, will be absent this year due to his national commitments.

Buttler's recent struggles continued as he was sidelined from The Hundred 2024 due to injury. He announced his withdrawal from SA20 2025 through a video posted on the Royals' official Instagram page.

In his message, Buttler expressed his disappointment: “Hi everyone, Jos Buttler here. I’m sorry to announce that I won’t be returning to the SA20 this year. I have some important England games coming up, so my focus will be on that. It’s unfortunate, but I won’t be part of the tournament this season.”

Buttler's absence from SA20 2025 is to ensure his availability for England’s upcoming tour of India in January. This tour, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs, is crucial for England as they prepare for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year.

Since SA20's inception, Buttler has been a cornerstone for Paarl Royals, topping their batting charts last season with 408 runs in 11 innings, averaging 40.80 with a strike rate of 143.66.
