Josh Brown and Will Sutherland are set to make waves in the Top End T20 series in Darwin, as they join the Melbourne Renegades Academy squad. Sutherland, who has recently recovered from a back injury, will take on the role of captain for the Renegades. His back issues had previously halted his second stint with Somerset in county cricket.

Brown, a standout player who dazzled with a spectacular 140 off 57 balls against Adelaide Strikers last season, is one of the major off-season additions for the Renegades. Although fans will have to wait until the BBL in December to see him team up with Jake Fraser-McGurk, the Top End tournament marks his debut with his new club.

The Renegades Academy squad also includes experienced fast bowler Kane Richardson and Victoria opener Marcus Harris, who does not currently have a BBL contract. Harris, who played briefly for Perth Scorchers last season, will join the squad for this series.

On the other side, Australian quick Scott Boland will join the Melbourne Stars Academy. Boland, who has been out of competitive cricket since April due to an injury, will not only play but also serve as a bowling coach for the Stars. Hilton Cartwright, also part of the Stars’ BBL squad, will be another key player for the team.

The Top End T20 series will feature several teams alongside the Renegades and Stars, including Northern Territory Strike, Adelaide Strikers, Perth Scorchers, Tasmania, ACT Comets, Pakistan A, and Bangladesh High Performance.

Jake Weatherald and D'Arcy Short will represent NT Strike, with Weatherald also playing for Tasmania and Adelaide Strikers, and Short for Western Australia and Strikers.
