The first Test between Australia and Sri Lanka is underway at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Australian captain Steven Smith won the toss and chose to bat first. As expected, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis is making his Test debut for Australia. He received his Baggy Green cap from former cricketer Geoff Marsh, becoming the 470th player to represent Australia in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, young batter Sam Konstas, who was part of Australia’s squad during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has not been included in the playing XI. Despite being in the squad, selectors decided to go with a more experienced lineup suited for Galle’s spin-friendly conditions.
