Former Pakistani pacer Junaid Khan has shared his playing XI for Pakistan’s opening match in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Despite some criticism, Junaid has backed Saim Ayub to open alongside Mohammad Rizwan. He has placed skipper Babar Azam in the one-down position, followed by Usman Khan and Fakhar Zaman.

In his selection, Junaid has included three fast bowlers: Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Amir, and Haris Rauf. Notably, Azam Khan did not make Junaid’s lineup due to recent under-performance, although reports indicate Azam might still feature in today’s match. All-rounder Imad Wasim is sidelined with a side strain injury, leading Junaid to pick Shadab Khan in his place.

Here is Junaid Khan’s playing XI for the game against the USA:
1. Mohammad Rizwan 2. Saim Ayub 3. Babar Azam 4. Usman Khan 5. Fakhar Zaman 6. Iftikhar Ahmed 7. Shadab khan 8. Shaheen Afridi 9. Mohammad Amir 10. Haris Rauf 11. Abrar Ahmed

It is worth noting that after their match against the USA, Pakistan will face arch-rivals India on June 9, followed by games against Canada on June 11 and Ireland on June 16.
