Kagiso Rabada has expressed confidence that the Proteas will be prepared when they take on the West Indies in their opening Test next week.

Although Rabada's last Test match was against India at the beginning of January, leaving the team somewhat underprepared compared to the Windies, who have recently played a three-match series against England, he remains optimistic.

“They’ve been playing some cricket and there’s nothing we can do about that. We’re just gonna have to make the most of what we’ve got.

“We know we can beat them, we do believe we can beat them. It will be a tough series and it is a bit of a concern that we haven’t played together,” he said.

Ahead of a four-day warm-up match against a West Indies Invitational side, Rabada acknowledged the challenge: “But it’s an exciting test to see what we can produce. Weve got this four-day game coming up and we believe that we can adapt.

Rabada is also on the brink of reaching 300 Test wickets, needing just nine more to hit the milestone. He views this potential achievement as a significant but secondary goal: “Reaching 300 wickets would be a special milestone, but it will be a byproduct of the series.”
