Akmal also addressed Harbhajan making fun of Babar Azam
Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has shed light on the intense exchange he had with Harbhajan Singh following the World Championship of Legends 2024 game on Saturday.
Akmal revealed that he had previously apologized to Harbhajan for remarks made a month ago, emphasizing that his comments were never intended to offend anyone.
The two former cricketers had a conversation a month after a heated exchange on social media. Akmal had made controversial remarks about Arshdeep Singh's religion, prompting Harbhajan to criticize him, stating that he should understand Sikh history before making such comments.
Akmal responded by apologizing to Harbhajan and the Sikh community.
"I made a mistake and that's what I spoke about to him. I never meant to or would never think of hurting a religion," Akmal told a local YouTube channel.
Akmal also addressed Harbhajan making fun of Babar Azam, acknowledging that while Babar and Brian Lara are in different classes and comparisons are unnecessary, cricketers should avoid making fun of each other.
"Later, we spoke about him [Harbhajan] making fun of Babar Azam. I admit the class of Babar and Brian Lara don't match and there is no point making comparison but as cricketers, we shouldn't be making fun. He also realized that they shouldn't have done that," he added.
A recent video clip of Harbhajan Singh had gone viral across social media platforms, where the former Indian spinner reacted hilariously to a comparison between Pakistan's Babar Azam and West Indies legend Brian Lara.
The footage from a local sports platform captures Harbhajan initially choosing Lara over Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara when asked to pick between the two cricketing greats.
The next question was whether Brian Lara or Babar Azam was better, which made Harbhajan burst into laughter. He couldn't stop laughing, and his co-host Sreesanth laughed uproariously.
The former spinner then jokingly asked the anchor if he had any other absurd comparisons on his list and handed him the fruits on the table as props.
