Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has decided to withdraw from his role as a national selector to fulfill his prior commitment as a local news channel commentator during the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Akmal, who recently retired from all forms of cricket, was appointed as the chairman of the junior selection committee and also as a member of the senior men's selection panel.

In a statement on Twitter, Akmal expressed his regret over his decision but stated that his existing contract with a private television channel for the HBL PSL 8 and the PCB's conflict of interest policy have forced him to withdraw from the role of selector.

He added that he will inform the PCB of his availability after he has completed his media commitments and it will be up to them to decide how they would like to utilize his services.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly accepted Akmal's situation and supported his decision.
