After his brief time in the IPL commentary booth, Williamson will shift his focus to the PSL 2025
Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson may not have been picked up in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, but he is still set to be part of the tournament.
The veteran batsman has received a last-minute call to join the IPL commentary panel for a brief 10-day stint during the early stages of the tournament.
According to reports from Indian media, Williamson will lend his expertise in the commentary box, where his in-depth knowledge of the game and keen tactical understanding are expected to enhance the IPL’s coverage. His analysis will offer fans unique insights into player strategies and match dynamics, making his commentary role highly anticipated.
After his brief time in the IPL commentary booth, Williamson will shift his focus to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, where he has been signed by Karachi Kings. Both Williamson and former Australian cricketer David Warner will be key figures in the Kings' squad for PSL 10, bringing invaluable experience to the team as they aim to make a strong impact in the tournament.
The 2025 edition of the PSL will take place from April 8 to May 18, coinciding with the IPL for the first time. This overlap of two major T20 leagues offers cricket fans a unique opportunity to follow two of the world’s biggest competitions simultaneously.
PSL 2025 will feature matches across four venues: Rawalpindi, Karachi, Multan, and Lahore, with the grand final taking place in Lahore.
Although Williamson won’t be on the field during the IPL, his role in the commentary box will certainly add value to the tournament. Fans are eagerly looking forward to hearing his insights before he returns to action in the PSL.
For those unaware, IPL 2025 kicks off on March 22, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens.
