Former New Zealand captain was picked by Karachi Kings in the PSL 10 draft
Kiwi batting great Kane Williamson is set to join Karachi Kings in the ongoing HBL PSL Season 10 on April 23 or 24 after missing the team’s initial matches due to commentary duties in the Indian Premier League.
Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who was picked by Karachi Kings in the PSL 10 draft, will link up with the squad later this month.
A source from the Kings’ management confirmed the right-hander’s expected arrival in Pakistan on April 23 or 24.
Williamson missed the Kings’ opening fixture and is unavailable for at least four more matches because of his commentary commitments in the ongoing IPL.
In his absence, Karachi Kings added Pakistan U19 captain Saad Baig as a partial replacement. Baig joined the team during their opening match against Multan Sultans.
Karachi Kings began their season on a high, registering a nail-biting win against Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium.
Under new captain David Warner, the Kings successfully chased down a massive 235-run target with four wickets and four balls to spare.
James Vince led the chase with a blistering 101 off 43 balls, striking 14 fours and four sixes. He was partnered by Khushdil Shah in a 142-run stand, with Shah contributing 60 off 37 deliveries.
Their dismissals in the 19th over left the Kings at 223/6, but Muhammad Irfan Khan and Abbas Afridi saw them through with a steady seventh-wicket stand.
Earlier, Multan Sultans posted 234/3 in their 20 overs. Captain Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 105 not out from 63 balls, while Michael Bracewell smashed 44 not out off 17 balls.
The pair added 89 runs in the final overs to lift the total.
Karachi Kings are set to face Lahore Qalandars today, April 15, at the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi.
