The upcoming second Test match between India and Bangladesh has been overshadowed by concerns about the safety of Kanpur Stadium, the venue for the match.

Indian media reports have highlighted several issues with the stadium's infrastructure, raising questions about the suitability of hosting such a high-profile international cricket event.

The Public Works Department of Uttar Pradesh has alerted the stadium administration about the precarious state of the 'C' balcony, which has been deemed unsafe for full-capacity seating. With a maximum capacity of 4,800, the department has mandated that only 1,700 tickets will be sold for this section. Officials warn that if a group of just 50 people were to jump simultaneously, it could potentially lead to a catastrophic collapse.

In addition to the balcony issue, eight floodlight bulbs near the VIP stand of Kanpur Stadium are reportedly malfunctioning. This is a recurring problem at the venue, and the combination of poor lighting and air pollution has raised concerns about the visibility for players and spectators.

The safety concerns surrounding Kanpur Stadium have drawn comparisons to the India-New Zealand Test match earlier this year, which was also played at the venue. Despite all the lights being functional, India failed to win the match due to poor visibility.
