Karachi Kings' head coach, Phil Simmons, applauded Pakistan's former captain Babar Azam and talked about Imad Wasim who is not part of the Kings franchise for PSL 9.

In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Simmons praised Babar's remarkable performances across all three formats of the game, describing him as one of the top players in the world.

"He [Babar] has been one of the top players in the world, in all three formats for a while now. There's nothing that he hasn't done in all three formats. He's boring on being one of the greats of Pakistan cricket or world cricketers by the end of his career. So that's least compliment I can pay hiom, he's up there and he's up there for a while now," Simmons said.

Acknowledging the absence of Imad, Simmons highlighted the team's proactive approach in scouting and nurturing talent.

"It's a case where Imad is not with us, he's not with our franchise so we have been watching different players. Nawaz is here now. We'll look and see what he can do,” he said.

“I don’t think we are saying look we are going to miss this person or we going to miss that person. We'll make sure the guys we have here give him that assurance that he can do the job," he further added.

It is worth noting that Imad bid farewell to Kings and transitioned to Islamabad United while Nawaz was released by Quetta Gladiators to join Karachi Kings for this year's PSL.
