Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who recently ended his nine-year association with Quetta Gladiators, is not currently in the plans of Karachi Kings for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, according to a media report.

Sarfaraz’s departure from Quetta Gladiators was confirmed after the franchise excluded him from their retention list for PSL 10. Despite earlier remarks from Gladiators' owner Nadeem Omar hinting at a potential re-selection of Sarfaraz during the draft, the wicketkeeper-batter announced his official exit from the team.

In a heartfelt statement, Sarfaraz shared his pride in his journey with the Gladiators. “Today I want to tell you that my time with Quetta Gladiators has come to an end. I feel very proud that my journey of 9 years with this amazing team has been wonderful and beautiful,” he wrote. He also expressed gratitude towards Nadeem Omar and the team management for their support throughout his tenure.

Following his announcement, speculation grew about Sarfaraz joining Karachi Kings, his hometown team. However, sources close to the Kings have confirmed that the franchise has no plans to pick him in the upcoming draft.

Sarfaraz Ahmed has been a key figure in the PSL since its inception, playing 86 matches for the Gladiators and scoring 1,525 runs at an average of 29.32, including seven half-centuries. He led the team to their first and only PSL title in 2019 and captained the side for eight seasons before being replaced by South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw in PSL 9.

The PSL 10 draft is set to take place on January 13, where Sarfaraz will enter the pool for the first time since the league began in 2016.
