Notably, Karachi was allocated only five PSL 10 matches this season
The National Bank Stadium in Karachi is set to host its final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 today, featuring a clash between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi.
Notably, Karachi was allocated only five PSL 10 matches this season, and today’s fixture marks the last in the city. According to sources, limited fan turnout in previous editions of the tournament led the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and franchises to reduce the number of matches scheduled in Karachi this year.
Sources further stated that the low ticket sales in Karachi last season caused financial losses to both the PCB and several franchises. As a result, many franchises reportedly opposed scheduling additional PSL matches in the city for the current edition.
In another major change, Quetta's home ground has also been shifted from Karachi for this season. Instead, Quetta Gladiators will play their home matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
In terms of venue distribution for PSL 10, Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium is hosting 13 matches, including both Eliminators and the Final. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is also hosting 11 matches, including the first Qualifier on May 13. Meanwhile, Karachi and Multan have each been given five matches to host.
As for today’s match, Karachi Kings have played four matches in the tournament so far, winning two and losing two. Peshawar Zalmi, on the other hand, have managed just one win from their three outings.
