The series, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, will take place from February 8 to 14
Two matches, including the final of the upcoming tri-nation ODI series scheduled for February next year, have been moved to Karachi. The series, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, will take place from February 8 to 14 and serve as a prime opportunity for teams to prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy.
Initially, all matches were planned for the Multan Cricket Stadium. However, informed sources have revealed that the third match of the series, between Pakistan and South Africa, will now be held at the National Stadium Karachi on February 12. Additionally, Karachi has also been entrusted with hosting the decisive final on February 14.
According to the schedule, the series will kick off with Pakistan facing New Zealand on February 8, followed by a match between New Zealand and South Africa on February 10.
It is worth noting that the Champions Trophy, which Pakistan is set to host, is scheduled to commence with an opening ceremony and an inaugural match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi on February 19.
Sources further revealed that all stakeholders have been consulted and agreed on the relocation of two matches, including the final, to Karachi. On Thursday, a delegation from New Zealand Cricket, including Players’ Association member Brad Rodden and security consultant Reg Dickason, visited the National Stadium Karachi to assess the preparations.
PCB Director International, Usman Wahla, briefed the delegation on the progress being made for the Champions Trophy and the ongoing renovations at the venue. The delegation inspected the facilities and expressed their full confidence in the arrangements. A final decision will be made after further consultations.
Previously, the New Zealand delegation also visited Rawalpindi Stadium and Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium to review the preparations for the Champions Trophy.
