Worcestershire’s Kashif Ali is setting ambitious goals for himself this winter as he plays first-class cricket in Pakistan. The batter, who emerged as Worcestershire’s top run-scorer in the 2024 Vitality County Championship, will represent Ghani Glass in the upcoming President’s Trophy.

The tournament, which has expanded from seven to nine teams for the 2025 edition, is scheduled to take place from January 6 to March 7, 2025. Ali is eager to make the most of this opportunity, focusing on improving his leg-spin skills and playing a more significant role in Worcestershire's bowling attack.

Reflecting on his previous winter experience in Pakistan, Ali shared, “Going to Pakistan last winter taught me so much as a cricketer and helped me improve significantly. The amount of game time was incredibly beneficial.”

Since returning to Worcestershire, Ali has felt an increased level of comfort and confidence in both his batting and bowling. “I think I’m getting better as a bowler. I’m working really hard on it, trying to be a proper all-rounder, and that is one of my goals,” he said.

Ali is committed to honing his skills further during the President’s Trophy. “Playing for Ghani Glass in the President’s Trophy is a fantastic experience. It’s a proper first-class competition with quality players, and the more you play, the better you get. I want to play as much cricket as possible to improve.”

His enthusiasm for bowling is palpable. “I love bowling. Every opportunity I get, I embrace it. I want to make a significant impact on the game with both bat and ball. Richo (Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson) and Kaddy (assistant head coach Kadeer Ali) know that I’m always looking for chances to bowl and get better.”
