Khushdil Shah played a key role in Pakistan's victory against West Indies in the first ODI following a sensational 103-run knock by captain fantastic Babar Azam.
The left-hander proved his worth in recent times which has helped improve his image amongst the fans.
Khushdil remained unbeaten on 41 from 23 deliveries which included one boundary and four maximums. Speaking about his clutch performances, here is what the player of the match had to add.
"My game plan was to take the game deep. No matter what happened, I wanted to give my 100% to the team," he said.
Explaining the shift in his technical game plan, Khushdil said that he has been working hard to improve the standards.
"For the last two years, I have been working on my power hitting. Earlier, I used to play on the leg stump, now I am working on my off-stump game. In the 10-12 days camps we had, the coaches helped me improve my batting. Not just the power-hitting but also accumulating the singles and doubles. I just wanted to hit the balls in my zone, else accumulate the ones and twos," he added.
"When I went in to bat, Rizwan was with me. We saw we still needed about 70 runs. We decided we wanted to take it deep," Khushdil further added. "At that time we needed almost 12 an over. I decided that I would wait for the balls that were in my zone, and I found a few in that over so I went for it."
