Khushdil Shah slams fastest century by a Pakistani in T20 cricket

Southern Punjab’s Khushdil Shah smacked the fastest century by a Pakistani in Twenty20 cricket to guide his team to their first victory in the ongoing National T20 Cup.

Shah’s sublime ton came off just 35 balls against Sindh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The record was previously held by Ahmed Shehzad, who had scored a century off 40 balls for Barisal Burners against Duronto Rajshahi in 2012 during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The left-hander’s explosive innings was instrumental in Southern Punjab’s win as they chased down a 217-run target despite losing four wickets with just 43 runs on the board.

Shah combined with Hussain Talat (62 runs off 36 balls) to form a brilliant 127-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

After the duo’s departure, Tailender Dilbar Hussain knocked off the remaining runs, towards the end, by playing a cameo of 13 runs from six balls.

Earlier, Sindh posted 216/3 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of a superb century by opener Khurram Manzoor. The right-hander scored 108 runs off 58 balls, with the help of 10 fours and six maximums.

Asad Shafiq, who was making a comeback in the side, scored 59 runs off 37 balls.

For Southern Punjab, pacer Mohammad Ilyas claimed two wickets but went for 44 runs in his four overs.

Shah bagged the award for player of the match after his fantastic innings.
