Babar, managed to score only 66 runs across four innings at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, leading to a storm of negative feedback from fans and experts alike
Former Pakistan cricketer Tanveer Ahmed has come forward to defend Babar Azam, who is facing heavy criticism after a disappointing performance in the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
Babar, managed to score only 66 runs across four innings at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, leading to a storm of negative feedback from fans and experts alike.
In response to the backlash, Tanveer offered words of encouragement to Babar, urging him not to lose heart. He acknowledged that Babar is going through a tough phase but reminded him that every great player faces challenges in their career. Tanveer described Babar as a "king" and assured him that his best days are still ahead.
Tanveer shared a supportive message on his social media account, X (formerly Twitter), telling Babar not to feel discouraged by the criticism.
"Don't worry, Babar Azam, you don't need to feel disheartened. You're going through a rough patch right now. Everyone may be against you but don't pay attention to them. Your time will come back, Inshallah. I'm with you and will always support you. Keep your heart strong, you are a king," Tanveer wrote on X.
Earlier, Tanveer had also criticized those who are questioning Babar’s abilities, stating that only people who are jealous of the star player are speaking against him. He emphasized that Babar is the "King of Pakistan cricket" and will remain so in the future.
“Let the critics be jealous of him. Babar Azam is the King of Pakistan and will remain in the future. The former players who are speaking against him don’t love Pakistan. Check out what they did for the country during their active days in international cricket,' he previously wrote.
It is worth noting that Pakistan is on the brink of a significant Test series loss at home against Bangladesh. The visiting team is just 30 runs away from a historic victory in the second and final Test, with six wickets in hand. The match is set to conclude in Rawalpindi, where Bangladesh is poised to make history against the hosts.
