Calling the triumph a dream come true, Rahul credited India's success to the team's hard work and teamwork
Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul expressed his joy after winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, saying that the victory felt like "reaching the moon." He added that this was his first Champions Trophy, making the moment even more special.
Calling the triumph a dream come true, Rahul credited India's success to the team's hard work and teamwork.
"The team performed brilliantly throughout the tournament, and every player fulfilled their responsibilities. That was the biggest reason for our success," he said.
Speaking about his role as a wicketkeeper, Rahul stated that it was nothing new for him. "When people ask me when I started wicketkeeping, I tell them that I have always been a wicketkeeper. I just didn’t get many chances to do it in the Indian team."
He revealed that when he first started playing cricket, he was a wicketkeeper-batter, but as time passed, he focused more on his batting.
"In 2019, when the team needed a wicketkeeper, I took up the responsibility, and since then, I have continued in this role," he explained.
Talking about his batting position, Rahul said he always tries to adapt according to the team's needs. "Cricket is a team game, so you have to understand your responsibility and perform accordingly," he added.
Rahul also shared his happiness over getting different roles in the team and being able to perform well in them.
