Virat Kohli's hopes of an IPL triumph were dashed as Royal Challengers Bengaluru succumbed to a four-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals in a high-stakes play-off in Ahmedabad.

Rajasthan's disciplined bowling restricted Bengaluru to 172-8, a target that Rajasthan chased down with six balls to spare at the iconic cricket stadium.

With this loss, Bengaluru and Kohli face yet another season without an IPL title, extending their wait for glory. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final play-off on Friday in Chennai, determining Kolkata Knight Riders' opponent in the May 26 final.

Key contributions from players like Trent Boult and Ravichandran Ashwin bolstered Rajasthan's bowling attack, leading to crucial breakthroughs.

Despite initial setbacks in their chase, Rajasthan regrouped with solid partnerships, notably from Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer, to secure victory. Rovman Powell's unbeaten knock ensured Rajasthan's passage to the final, marking a remarkable turnaround from their recent form.

The match witnessed a massive turnout despite sweltering conditions, with over 85,000 fans packing the stadium.
