Lahore Qalandars recently announced a formal partnership with Yorkshire Cricket Club, which was created to improve the standards of cricket and allow children to get better training from a very young age.
The partnership saw a number of important details which included a friendly match to be played in Lahore on January 16.
The Yorkshire Cricket Club published a press release which stated that the friendly match has been postponed due to the Covid-19 situation.
"Owing to the ongoing Covid-19 developments globally, and for the safety and wellness of the players, it has been decided that it is appropriate to reschedule the match to a later date, which will be confirmed in due course time," read the press release.
Despite the match being postponed, the partnership between Lahore Qalandars and Yorkshire Cricket Club is something that should not be taken lightly. For Yorkshire, this partnership symbolizes a transition period to repair all the was broken following the Azeem Rafiq testimony.
Rafiq's testimony regarding deep-rooted racism which existed at Yorkshire shock the entire organisation to its core which prompted a complete overhaul of its management and Yorkshire Cricket Club being stripped of international matches hosting rights.
Speaking about this, Professor The Lord Patel of Bradford OBE, Chair of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, said: "Our partnership with Lahore Qalandars is an exciting moment as we continue to rebuild Yorkshire County Cricket Club, and we are incredibly excited at the opportunity for four players to join us as a part of our new scholarship programme."
