Karachi Kings have defeated Lahore Qalandars by five wickets, after a fascinating contest in Dubai during the ongoing Habib Bank Limited Pakistan Super League.

Qalandars posted 133-5 in their allotted 20 overs, after Kings won the toss and elected to field first.

Star player AB de Villiers top-scored with 33 runs off 32 balls. Meanwhile Sohail Akhtar remained unbeaten on 29 runs off 22 balls. 

For Kings, the spin duo of Iftikhar Ahmed and Umer Khan played a key role in restricting Qalandars to a modest total. Ahmed took two wickets while Khan bagged one scalp.

In response, Kings chased the down the target on the first ball of final over of the innings. 

Liam Livingstone top-scored with 38 off 34 balls but the match-winning innings came from Iftikhar Ahmed, with the latter scoring an unbeaten 33 off 25 balls to take his team over the line.

Another fine spell of bowling from Sandeep Lamichanne kept Qalandars in the contest but was not enough to secure a win. He claimed figures of 2-17 in his four overs.

For his all-round performance, Ahmed was declared the player of the match.
