Out of the nine New Zealand players signed for this year's IPL, only four have played for their teams this season
Several prominent New Zealand cricketers will be absent from the forthcoming T20I tour to Pakistan due to their involvement in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Out of the nine New Zealand players signed for this year's IPL, only four have actually played for their teams.
With IPL rules allowing only four overseas players per match, it's challenging for Kiwi players, who might find themselves on the sidelines or practicing in the nets.
Kane Williamson (Gujarat Titans)
Played 2 games, scored 27 runs at a 13.5 average
Finally got a chance in the last two matches after missing earlier games, batting at No. 3.
Trent Boult (Rajasthan Royals)
Played 4 games, took 5 wickets at a 23.2 average
Boult has been impressive, especially with his 3/22 spell in a match-winning performance against Mumbai Indians.
Rachin Ravindra (Chennai Super Kings)
Played 5 games, scored 112 runs at a 22.4 average
Started strongly but has struggled since, with most of his runs coming from boundaries.
Daryl Mitchell (Chennai Super Kings)
Played 5 games, scored 118 runs at a 29.5 average, also took 1 wicket
Despite being the most expensive New Zealand player, Mitchell's performance has been modest, and his batting order has been inconsistent.
The remaining Kiwi players - Mitchell Santner, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Phillips, and Matt Henry - are yet to feature in any matches.
A second-string New Zealand team, led by Michael Bracewell, is set to arrive in Pakistan on April 14th for the five-match T20 series commencing on April 18th, with three matches scheduled in Pindi and the remaining two in Lahore.
New Zealand squad for Pakistan tour:
Michael Bracewell (c), Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Jacob Duffy, Dean Foxcroft, Ben Lister, Cole McConchie, Adam Milne, Jimmy Neesham, Will O’Rourke, Tim Robinson, Ben Sears, Tim Seifert (WK), Ish Sodhi
