Multan Sultans beat Quetta Gladiators in a last over thriller

Multan Sultans have registered a thrilling victory over Quetta Gladiators as they defended 8 runs from the last over.

Tim David held on to Naseem Shah's effort in the deep to give Multan Sultans their third successive victory of the HBL PSL 7.

Quetta Gladiators won the toss and put the Rizwan-led team to bat first, a common trend that has been witnessed in the current edition of the PSL.

Shan Masood, who was adjourned player of the match, scored a glorious inning of 88 runs from 58 deliveries; he picked up 6 boundaries and smashed 4 maximums.

Despite losing skipper Mohammad Rizwan for nought, Shan led the charge for Sultans as he was supported by Sohaib Maqsood (21), Rilee Rossouw (21), and Tim David (28) from the other end.

Mohammad Hasnain picked up two wickets whereas James Faulker also chipped in with a wicket to restrict Sultans to 174 for 4 after 20 overs.

In response, Quetta Gladiators found it difficult to get going as they kept losing wickets.

Will Smeed (3) was the first one to depart as Khushdil Shah stamped his authority on the match - he returned the figures of 3-16 from his four overs.

Ahsan Ali departed after making 24 runs while Ben Duckett took charge and fell only three runs short of a fantastic half-century.

Struggling at 6-108, Iftikhar Ahmed stepped into the game and help smash 24 runs in the 17th over to push Gladiators close to victory.

Iftikhar departed after making a quick-fire 30 from 13 balls before David Willey claimed his wicket.

The Englishman bowled a fantastic couple of overs to restrict Quetta Gladiators before finally claiming the last wicket as he defended 8 runs off the last over.

Khushdil Shah, David Willey, and Imran Tahir all picked up three wickets each.
