Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad backs Babar Azam for his captaincy after being criticised several times because of the Pakistan team's consistent defeats.

Under Babar Azam's captaincy in the longest format, Pakistan has only won the home Test series against South Africa (2-0) and lost against Australia (1-0) and England in the recent Test series (3-0).

Most of the former players wanted Babar Azam to be removed from captaincy, including pacer Mohammad Amir who previously slammed Babar Azam during the T20 World Cup 2022 for not trusting players.

But the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, Najam Sethi, stated, "Babar Azam isn't going anywhere; he will remain our captain."

Javed Miandad clearly stated that Babar Azam should remain our captain in all three formats.

"Babar Azam should remain captain of Pakistan because his individual performance is improving."

It is to be noted that New Zealand are currently in Pakistan for two Test and three ODI series after almost 22 years.
