Former Pakistan cricket coach and captain Misbah-ul-Haq has voiced concerns over the constant changes in the team, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive evaluation of Babar Azam's performance over the past four years.
Speaking to media after World Championship of Legends' match, Misbah also highlighted that the responsibility for the team's performance does not lie solely with the captain but is shared across all departments, including batting, bowling, and fielding.
"As far as Babar's performance is concerned, we need to see where he stands after four years. It's not just the captain's fault; the blame lies with all departments, including batting, bowling, and fielding," Babar said.
Misbah pointed out that decision-makers need to carefully assess the team combination and make sensible decisions based on available options. He warned against making changes merely for show, referring to such moves as "cosmetic surgery" that could ultimately harm the team's prospects.
"The decision-makers also need to assess where the team combination stands and what sensible options are available. However, if changes are being made just for show, just for cosmetic reasons, it will be detrimental. The continuous changes made by the management and captain series after series have caused us to suffer in the World Cup," he further added.
It is worth noting that Pakistan was eliminated from Super Eight contention in the T20 World Cup 2024. In the three matches played, Pakistan lost the first two matches played against United States and India. Though they won the Canada, however, lost the chance to enter the Super 8.
