The Caribbean Premier League (CPL), through their social media account on Tuesday, announced the signing of Pakistan’s former pacer Mohammad Amir by the Barbados Tridents franchise.

The pacer acknowledged the announcement and stated that he was looking forward to the new challenge.

South Africa’s former spinner Johan Botha responded to the announcement by stating that Amir was still one of the best with the new ball and had a great attitude.

“Excellent signing! Still one of the best with new ball in hand, great attitude and team man. Wants to be in the contest!” Botha Tweeted.

The 29-year-old recently announced his retirement from international cricket after a row with the national men’s team management.

The pacer has featured in 36 Tests, 61 One-Day Internationals and 50 Twenty20 Internationals for the Men in Green picking up 119 wickets, 81 wickets and 59 wickets respectively in each format of the sport.
